First There is now a seafood-only restaurant in Abuja @thesharkexpress. They earlier didn’t have a physical location in Abuja, they usually collaborate with Reset restaurant for Sunday seafood buffet and that was when I had a taste of what Shark express had to offer. When @miss_tinny told me about the recent opening of their physical location, we decided to go check them out.

First of all, finding this place was literally a merry go round. We nearly toured the entire Gwarinpa trying to locate this place. The annoying thing was it was just right beside Metro Cafe, at the rooftop of one plaza on a very popular street in Gwarinpa. Point of advice, resist the urge to follow the description on their Instagram page, it will mislead you! 🤦🏾‍♂️ Wasn’t funny at all 😡 I feel like we deserved some sort of a compensation for the stress they put us through. Maybe a discount or a free drink or something 🤷🏾‍♂️

Now, I wouldn’t say this is your go to place for a fancy night out or lunch date because the restaurant isn’t all that fancy when it comes to décor and picturesque. Just go here if you want to enjoy some seafood. Another note to point is, their waiter was so cautious, at least the one that served us. She understood the menu to the last letter and she was super polite. We couldn’t even stay mad around her. I give them good points for that 👏🏽

So now, let’s talk about the food!

Garlic bread – ₦1,500

3 slices of garlic bread, even though they served us 5 pieces. But see eh, to be honest, just make this at home by yourself using garlic powder, butter and bread slices. Kai! I can’t believe this was ₦1,500 sha 😩 Or is it because they laid it on a plate with lettuce? We forgot to take pictures of this but I was able to salvage a picture of the remnants the moment I remembered. Hope this is able to give you a description you can use.

Medium Lobster – ₦3,000

Sharkhouse 101 Abuja Lobsters - LET’S CHECK OUT SHARK HOUSE 101, GWARINPA

Very meaty and juicy on the inside, although, I would recommend you try the large portion, because this one isn’t very filling as such.

Snails – ₦2,000

I didn’t get the chance to try the snails nor take pictures, Uju rushed the 2 pieces before I could say jack 🤦🏾‍♂️

Seafood boil – ₦6,000

So, Uju said she had been craving seafood boil ever since she watched my last IG video of me having seafood, so she ordered for seafood boil to be eaten with white rice. The menu detailed that there will be potatoes in the plate but I don’t remember seeing potatoes in that plate.

The seafood boil was a combination of Prawns, Crawfish, Crabs, Mussels, Clams and Corn cobs, no potatoes.

I actually had a taste of the seafood boil and to be honest, it was awesome! I didn’t like that the clams and mussels had already melted inside the entire sauce, and eating crab legs could be such a tasking thing to do (I don’t know how she was able to do this effortlessly), but if you think you can handle it, then you can try. I sha won’t recommend having this in any restaurant especially on a first date, lol. But if you really want to, just be ready to embarrass yourself eating.

Seafood Pasta Alfredo – ₦5,500

Sharkhouse 101 Abuja Alfredo 1 - LET’S CHECK OUT SHARK HOUSE 101, GWARINPA

Linguine pasta with Alfredo Shrimps sauce and decorated with large prawns. To be honest, this dish was goooals!!! The cream in it was just soooo juicy, tasty and very succulent, and I could tell that this wasn’t Dano or Peak milk that they used, lol. I could grasp the original feel of heavy cream, everything in the plate was very generous enough for a bowl of linguine. And the prawns they even topped it with was so big. I really feel like I got my value for money on this one 👌🏾

White wine – ₦1,500

Tropicana Mocktail – ₦2,500

PS: I could not sight their bar around, so I was wondering how they have such an extensive cocktail menu. Or are the cocktails made in the kitchen? 🤷🏾‍♂️

Anyways, so at the end of our meal, these guys made a mistake with our billing sha, but the Igbo boy in me will always cross-check my bill, and guess what, we were mistakenly charged an extra 4K! 😱

Anyways, they apologized for the error and corrected it.

Overall, dining here was a nice experience and I may be back here.

Another PS: I’m just realising that there were no Oysters in their entire menu, I wonder why 🤔
