Around last week when my friend @thedamilima was in Abj, she buzzed me for us to check out a few restaurants. The Junkyard was the first of them.
The plan was to share starters in one restaurant, main in another, then dessert in the last. So we came here strictly for a starter meal. The Junkyard will definitely be difficult to locate if it’s your first time here, but it’s inside Riverplate Garden… You will definitely ask a lot of people for directions before finding here. Lol.
Well, this place shared quite a few similarities which I will get into.
This place will be suitable for evening chilling with friends most especially because you may not get to see the cobwebs scattered around wall corners and flies might not interfere in the evening/night hours.
So Dami and I ordered for 3 sliders to share, a Virgin Colada and a Milkshake. The way the waiter was even serving sef it was seeming to us like the food sef might not be sweet, she was just tossing the plates like someone was vexing her before we got here. Even ordinary sliders took almost an hour to be ready but, in their defense, the restaurant was just opening and that was the first order they had that day. Dami said this isn’t a good excuse for their kitchen not to be ready so long as the place is open. Fair point Dami 👌🏾
SLIDERS – ₦1,500
I can’t really complain about the burgers though, it was just like every other regular slider. Dressing was with Mayonnaise, but I’d have preferred cheese. The Beef was dry, but the mayo dressing almost helped make it juicy.
MILKSHAKES & VIRGIN COLADA – ₦1,500 each
Let me tell you what happened, you know milkshakes and virgin colada look alike right? So I tasted my colada and I could have sworn it was milkshake 😂 I was telling Dami that they waiter gave her my colada and gave me milk shake. These guys couldn’t get a common colada mix right. I was struggling to find the Pineapple taste out of the drink, all I could taste was milk 🤦🏾♂️
And guess the worse part, fly entered my drink when I wasn’t even half way to it 😩, we were struggling with flies all through our stay here…. Wonder why these restaurants don’t embrace the concepts of fumigation 🤦🏾♂️
I called the attention of the waitress and showed her the fly that entered, you know what she said? “it’s not our fault, this is an outside space” Ewoo! 🙆🏾♂️
I kuku told her to take the drink back, I don’t want again. I think she took it up to the MD who happened to be around, they sha brought me another drink.
Now that I’m writing this, I’m just thinking, I hope they didn’t just remove the fly and top the glass oh 😩
