So on this good Saturday evening, Abi and I visited Jakes Club to give them a second trial after I was served hard penne pasta the other day. We went there around 4 ish, but we changed our minds to go to Uncle D’s restaurant instead.

Honestly, I love the concept of this restaurant….it is an open kitchen type of restaurant where you get to see the entire kitchen operations. Here is just perfect for a casual lunch date. It nearly had the look and feel of a diner, you know those ones you’d mostly find in American movies.

The thing I observed about this place are their courteous waiters. They were all so friendly and ready to serve. This is exactly how waiters are meant to be, not angry or grumpy. Also, for such a small place, they had quite an extensive menu.

As for the food….

Burger – ₦6,000

I honestly wasn’t craving burger, but Abi recommended we tried their burger, judging from what we saw on their page. This later happened to be a clear case of what I ordered vs what was delivered 😂

We found a picture of this very yummy Burger on their page oh, we asked if we can order the same and they confirmed that it isn’t on their menu, but it’s a custom order they can make. I went ahead to order it, only for something different to arrive 🤦🏾‍♂️ What vexed me the most is that the first waiter we asked said it costs ₦5,500, the second one said it’s ₦6,000. I had no choice but to still order it like that, only for something entirely different to arrive.

I was pained, not picture friendly at all 🤦🏾‍♂️

Lasagne – ₦5,500

Abi ordered this because she was really hoping to get nice pictures out of it, as per the Food Photographer that she is. Lo and behold, she wasn’t able to do justice with it.

To be honest, the quantity of the Lasagne was quite much, but the presentation wasn’t all that. Lasagne is a baked food, it’s supposed to be firm when emptied from the pan, but no, this one just fell off like watery beans and lost the photo appeal. 🤦🏾‍♂️ Fortunately it tasted just okay, but not okay enough to justify its looks.

Vanilla Delight Milk Shake – ₦2,000

This was in perfect condition. Loved it!

Virgin Mojito – ₦2,500

After having Mojito at Mr Crab I doubt I can rate any good mojitos again in Nigeria, but compared with Nigerian standards, this one was sha okay.

They have a Nigerian food menu there, maybe if I go there next time, it’s Nigerian food I’ll rather have.
